James and I worked together on a series of projects during his time at &Ranj. I found James to be a hard working, curious person. I enjoyed our frequent discussions about game design, as well as his ability to come up with clever ideas and working solutions time after time. James is also very interested in the technical aspects of game technology, making him the type of game designer that can easily move from abstract thinking to concrete doing. I had the pleasure of supervising James’ on multiple projects during his studies including his final Masters. An aspect during my years of supervising James I found particularity impressive was his ability to set goals and planning and adhere to them while constantly adjusting granularity during a projects development. Following this methodology, by the completion of his Masters project, James had developed an impressive range and depth of technical knowledge in support of his creative goals.
